Do you love what you do? I mean honestly, truly, can’t live without it love it?

Because if you don’t, I’d like to ask you one small question.

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IT FOR?

Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you or anything. But then again, on second thought, maybe I did. Because every minute you spend doing something you don’t love, doing something that doesn’t get you excited to get up in the morning, doing something you wouldn’t lie down in front of an oncoming bus to protect…you’re pretty much wasting your life.

And I think that’s pretty serious.

In case you haven’t heard, you have a right to be happy. Americans even put it in the Declaration of Independence – “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” And they definitely knew what they were talking about. Because when you’re pursuing happiness – when you’re going for the things that make your life great – you’re actually making the world a better place. As opposed to, say, the person who sits around complaining and waiting for good things to happen to him. Wake up, buddy! Santa Claus isn’t gonna bring you a life!

And if you have a life, but you don’t love what you do? Well, chances are you’re probably doing a pretty sucky job at it. Or at the very least, you’re just phoning in.

I mean, my job is to buy and sell real estate. I do it every day. But I don’t just do it because it pays the bills. I do it because I actually enjoy it. It excites me, it challenges me, it makes me excited to get up in the morning.

Which is probably part of the reason why I’m good at what I do. I love my work like some people love football on TV or pepperoni pizza. I can’t get enough of it.

Do you feel the same way about what you do for a living?

And if you don’t, when are you gonna start?
